It is a brand new decade. And for some, that fact alone is enough motivation to make big changes in their business. Major changes.
For some, these changes will mean expanding and taking on new partners. For others it will mean franchising the business. And others will physically grow the business with a bigger location and more staff.
But before any of that happens, I’d like you to take 20 minutes and look around. Press pause, and take a look at your business image, your professional face. This is probably something you don’t do often. So go ahead:
- check out your website;
- dig out your business card or stationery;
- poke around your LinkedIn profile;
- (and check out any other portion of your business image that’s got you curious right now)
Now answer this: What does your business image show the world? What does your professional face say about your business?
- Does your brand image reflect a business that’s solid, trustworthy, healthy?
- Or does it reflect a business that has little personality and looks a little rough around the edges?
I know, looks aren’t everything. And just because a business has a pretty façade doesn’t mean it’s reputable. It may not entice you at all to do business with them. But the reality is that we all continue to judge a book by its cover. We make snap judgements about a company based on their brand image, their ads, their social media posts. We are not impartial. We do judge. And most importantly, according to industry experts, we continue to “buy with our eyes.”
That’s why I want you to take the time to see whether your business image is still portraying your business in the best possible light. Is your professional face still presenting your business well? And will it continue to do so as your business evolves in the new decade?
The new year and the new decade are just starting. If this is the year that you make massive changes in your business, then make sure your brand image gets updated to reflect that new reality. Your brand image is the first thing people see; make sure they see a credible professional. If it’s not looking as good as it could be, now is the time to step up and do better. Because don’t forget: first impressions are lasting impressions. And you want to make sure people get the right impression from the start.
You’re at the perfect time to decide whether the face you show the world is accurate or not. If it’s time to upgrade and update start planning things out now. Don’t leave your brand image to the end, when you’ll be playing catch-up.
If your business or organzation is at that stage, I can help with the creative updates. All you need to do is contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
